Frequently Asked Questions:

  • How do I know where to rent a car and boat? You will receive a detailed Guest Info Sheet upon your booking, chock full of info for car and boat rental, restaurant, island info, etc.

  • How far in advance should I reserve a car and boat? As soon as you book, we recommend to reserve your car and boat. Better to have a reservation and cancel than not to have availability.

  • Do I need to rent a car? Absolutely, YES. You will need a car to gather all provisions and explore the 37 mile length of the island.

  • What side of the road do you drive on in the Bahamas? LEFT!

  • Do you recommend driving at night? We recommend limiting night time driving to town and just past town to the fish fry and Hideaways.

  • Can I rent a boat and explore on my own? Yes, that’s the beauty of Exuma. Boat company recommendations are in the Guest Info Sheet.

  • Do you recommend “Reef Safe” sunblock? Yes! We try to be a part of the care of the ocean.

  • Can I keep my boat at February Point? Yes (if w/Exclusive Boat Rentals, Sunsplash & Exuma Boat Rentals), you will need to confirm with Feb. Pt. via an email and there is a fee associated with the dockage. Two minute walk, if that, from the villa! This must be in advance.

  • Is there someone close by if I have an issue with the villa? YES, there is staff on call 24/7. A day or two before your arrival, we will create a group message in What’s App w/our property manager so you will have access to them at all times.

  • Is the villa child proofed? No. The villa is oceanfront, steps leading upstairs and a step down into the living room, cords on shades and unsecured furniture.

  • Is there recycling in Exuma? Sadly, no. The recycling is buried. That is why we encourage using our Brita filter and reusable water bottles.

  • What’s the best method of communication w/the locals? What’s App! The locals use What’s App messaging and calls, the most.

  • How is the internet? The internet is fiber optic so it does have good reliability. However, please remember you’re on an island, so it’s not per usual.

  • Is it safe to swim the pigs, the sharks, etc.? Please note all information outlined in this website are suggestions and is at your own risk. We suggest to inquire about licensure and insurance. All excursion encounters with wildlife, are such: wildlife.

  • How do I see the pigs? You can visit the pigs 2 ways: 1) LOCAL PIGS - Drive to the Western end of the island to Exuma Point Villas and hitch a ride to the little island across the way. There is a fee. There is a beautiful beach at Exuma Point Villas, so bring your suits and towels and great place to eat, too OR you can take a HALF day tour with one of the boat companies and go by boat, 2)ORIGINAL PIGS - Take a FULL day tour w/any of the boat companies to Big Major Cay, which is close to Staniel Cay. Many boat companies are listed in the Guest Info Sheet. ***If you have little kids under 8 or so, I would recommend seeing the “local” pigs by Exuma Point Villas. The full day tour may be too much.

  • Can I drink the water out of the tap? Yes. However, the villa has a Brita filter on the faucet and a filter for the fridge water. We also have a 5 gallon water jug available with a manual pump for when the power is out.

  • What type of money do I need to bring? The American dollar is standard in the Bahamas. Bring more cash than you think you need. The bigger boat rental companies take credit cards and so does the main grocery store, but don’t count on it. Often, the power or their computer systems are down and the cash machines are often out of money or broken. So there you have it: “cash is king”, in our opinion!

  • Does the power and water go out often? It depends, but plan on it. Usually the water goes off on a schedule in the evenings from 10 PM-6 AM or so. And, the electricity sporadically goes out. Be prepared. Have a water pitcher filled up in the fridge and have your devices charged. There are flashlights, batteries and candles available in the villa.

  • Where do I get all the boat excursion info? The Guest Info Sheet!

  • Should we bring kids size life jackets? YES!!! The excursion and boat rental companies may not have the proper size for your child. It’s a must to bring your own properly fitted child size life jackets.

  • Are there hair dryers at the villa? Yes, there is a hair dryer in both bathrooms upstairs.

  • Is there a “starter set” of paper products and clothes/dish soaps provided? Yes, there is a starter set of paper products provided: paper towels, toilet paper, starter of laundry and dish detergent, hand and dish soap.

  • Should I get travel insurance? Yes! We suggest to get insurance to cover flight cancellations/delays and medical emergency.

  • Do I need to download What’s App? YES! Most of the locals use this app for messaging and phone calls.

  • What type of coffee maker is provided? There is a traditional drip coffee maker with filters provided.

  • Is there a grill? Yes, there is a Weber grill with utensils.

  • Do you provide beach chairs, coolers, etc.? Yes, there are 4 beach chairs, an umbrella, several beach towels, hard and soft coolers, and big beach bag.

  • Are there down-free pillows? Yes, all the sleeping pillows and bedding in the villa are a down alternative.

  • Is there a health clinic or hospital? Yes, there are both. In town, Dr. Devan Rolle 242-524-4085 is located in a blue bldg. on the right before the marina and market. The Mini Hospital is located just West of town before the fish fry 242-336-2088. The Di-Ara Comprehensive Medical Center is located across from Sandals 242-358-4042

  • Can I expect the service and products I’m used to at home? No, but that’s the beauty of Exuma. A funny, but true description is written below.

Glimpse into your slice of Paradise.
